The 2012 PROYECTA Award jury, made up by Andrea Fischer, Claudia Mazzola y Chonín Ruesga, and Lala de Dios Teijeira, as secretary of the jury, unanimously elected the Arquitexturas project  as winner presented by the architecture study of Casilda Barajas, the textile workshop of Patricia Robles and the environmental citizen coordinator a .c. and executed in the Mexican states of Guanajuato and Queretaro.  It was deemed to have met the assessment criteria listed in the terms and conditions serving as a first step in improving the standard of living of the communities involved, promoting research and training in traditional textile techniques, introducing innovation to seek adapted materials in current markets, encourage knowledge and experience exchange, preserve and divulge the textile culture, thus fulfilling the social requirements of the project and taking into consideration sustainability and environmental aspects and its solidarity nature, ultimately empowering the communities.

Additionally, the jury unanimously awarded an honorable mention to the Las Papaturras project presented by the Villafranca y Zürcher Foundation and executed in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, in recognition of the efforts made, highlighting the value of continuity and empowerment  and placing a high value on this type of project as an example of private and public entity colaboration, namely the Islita Museum and the Punta Islita Hotel.

The official announcement was made last November 27, 2012 during the  III Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño BID_12 program of activities of La Central de Diseño-Dimad in Matadero Madrid, Spain.
